Welcome to the new CVA site!
How to use our new site
The Library of Appalachia is a collection of articles, reports, and books; multimedia; and links referencing life in Appalachia. Library entries are categorized into 527 categories, spanning a vast array of subject matter. You can choose to display only the articles, only the multimedia, only the links, or all entries by selecting the appropiate link in the top navigation. You can further narrow down your display options by showing only a particular state, and soon, county within a state. All links to external locations will open in a new browser window.
The Quilt Collection displays more than 200 quilt blocks from the Appalachian Collection of the Camden-Carroll Library at Morehead State University. Patterns are available for the majority of the blocks so that quilters can make their own quilt based on these collections. You can view holdings of a particular collection, or view all collections. Hover your mouse over an image, and a description will appear in the center of the quilts. To change to descriptions appearing on a mouse click rather than a hover, use the navigation at the top of the page.
The PhotoTour contains hundreds of photographs of Appalachian places, events, people, and landscapes. You can narrow down your display options by showing only a particular state. Hover your mouse over an image, and a description will appear in the center of the photos. To change to descriptions appearing on a mouse click rather than a hover, use the navigation at the top of the page.
Data Sources are sites with raw and tabular data of interest concerning the Appalachian region. You can further narrow down your display options by showing only a particular state or county within a state. All links to external locations will open in a new browser window.
