Elvis Aaron Presley

Elvis Presley, known as the “King of Rock and Roll”  was born in Tupelo, Mississippi in 1935.

His early musical influences were gospel, pop, and country. His parents moved to Memphis in 1948 where he was exposed to jazz and the blues. He recorded at Sun Studios in 1953 and the rest is musical history. He holds several records including 107 top forty hits, 38 top tens, most consecutive #1s ( 10 ) and the most weeks at #1( 80 ) He also toured extensively and made 33 successful films as well as groundbreaking T.V. appearances.He was one of the original inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He is without a doubt one of the most popular entertainers of all time.

He died in 1977, but continues to be revered, as the number of fan websites devoted to him testifies. His former home, Graceland, continues to be an attraction for visitors, and collections of his music continue to sell more than twenty years after his death.
