Sideling Hill – MD

One of the largest rock exposures in Maryland is located approximately 6 miles west of Hancock in Washington County, where Interstate 68 cuts through Sideling Hill.

A dream for geologists and rockhounds alike, this road cut exposes over 800 feet of rock strata arranged in a beautifully detailed syncline formation. The spectacular road cut is bounded by scenic hills and valleys and features a pedestrian bridge that crosses Interstate 68 and connects the eastbound and westbound rest areas.
