Tyrus Raymond Cobb

Ty Cobb was born in 1886 in Narrows, Georgia.  Some sources say Royston in Franklin County is his hometown.

He was the eldest of three children and his father was a teacher, principal, newpaper publisher, and state senator. He was known as the Georgia Peach and holds many baseball records. He stole home more than anyone else, he won more batting average titles, he was the first player selected to the Baseball Hall of Fame, and he was also the first to star in a movie. Many consider him to be the greatest all round player ever.

He passed away in 1961.
